Mary Kay VoxBox from Influenster!

I was chosen by Influenster to participate in their Mary Kay VoxBox. If you've never heard of Influenster they are a a website where users can join, participate in surveys, connect their social media accounts and qualify for product testing and VoxBoxes. After you join and connect your social media accounts, blogs, etc. you're given an impact score which helps you to qualify for VoxBoxes. Voxboxes are boxes of goodies sent out to you to try and then review and talk about online. If you'd like more information or would like to join Influenster you can find them here.

I qualified for the Mary Kay Voxbox and was actually pretty excited. In all my years using makeup I'd yet to try anything by Mary Kay and here was my chance to do so for free.

Here is how my VoxBox arrived:

Upon opening I loved all the pink and how pretty it was packaged:

I was given 9 items to try out including:

• Mary Kay Bronzing Powder
• Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder
• Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color
• Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist
• Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush
• Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara
• Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush in Jet Black
• Mark Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango

Overall I was fairly impressed with the products I received. The best of the best to me would be the gel eyeliner, which stayed on, no smudging, for a good 32 hours. (Bad me, I slept in my makeup) I really liked the translucent powder. I normally use e.l.f.'s HD powder but after trying the MK brand I think I will probably actually purchase another after mine runs out and keep using it. It has a beautiful finish to it and is super easy to blend onto your face.

The good but not great would be the bronzer, mineral cheek color, lip gloss and mascara. The bronzer is a nice bronzer, but I'm kind of a stickler for Too Faced's bronzer. If you don't have a favorite bronzer that you're not willing to cheat on I'd say give Mary Kay's a try. The mineral cheek color kind of falls into the same category as the bronzer. I don't normally use a powder based blush, I'm a die hard Benefit fan in that area and their cheek and lip tints are my go-tos. Since I don't have too much experience in the powder based cheek color area all I can really say is try it and see if it's for you/ The lip gloss and mascare were both very nice. The mascara was easy to build layers with and I liked the results. The lip gloss was a very light orange-red that's really nice if you just want a slight pop of color without being too bold. It's a little sticky but nothing too bad.

The one product out of the whole box that I just absolutely hated was the cream eye color. It was horrible trying to apply. I tried the using the brush that came in the box specifically for the cream eye color, I tried using my fingers, a sponge applicator. Nothing helped. It wouldn't stay put, went on incredibly un-even and I just would not recommend this product to anyone.

All in all I was satisfied with these particular Mary Kay products, with the exception of the eye color. So if you've never tried a Mary Kay cosmetic product it may be a good idea to look into them. I know I'll be buying more of their gel eyeliner!

So you've stumbled onto my little corner of the beauty world! Since this is my first post allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Trista and I'm a 32 year old married mom of 3 living in Oklahoma.  I've self-taught myself everything I know about makeup and it's been a love/obsession of mine for about 10 years now.  

I'm a natural redhead though I tend to dye my hair brighter shades of red because I like it better. I love bright, bold colors and use them quite often in my makeup routine. 

Skincare is new to me so that's a journey you can join me on or feel free to throw out your suggestions! 

To get down to basics on this blog I plan to write reviews of products, post my makeup looks and hopefully tutorials.  I subscribe to a couple of makeup/beauty boxes and I'll share those. We'll just see where things go as time goes by. I hope you enjoy what I have to share!

Face: Tarte  Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation,  Benefit Boi-ing Concealer and High Beam and Mary Kay's Translucent Loose Powder. 

Eyes: Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette,  BH Cosmetics Take Me to Brazil palette, Mary Kay gel eyeliner in Jet Black, Ulta's Automatic Eyeliner in Primrose and Benefit's They're Real Mascara. 

Lips are Nyx's Xtreme Lip Cream in Spicy.
